What we do
We run four regular events each year – the Lenzie New Year Jog, the summer Gala, the Charity Christmas Card Fayre and the Christmas Lights switch-on.
The Community Police officers normally give us a monthly report on crimes that have taken place over the previous month and on initiatives in the Police programme. We can pass on to the Police any concerns or information raised by local residents.
In addition to the posts of Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, one member takes responsibility for reviewing and reporting on the monthly file of Planning applications and another keeps an eye on path access issues.
We also try to help out local community groups if possible. For example, in the 2008-2009 year we have provided donations to the Lenzie Youth Club for their annual football festival, to the Lenzie Churches Holiday Club for children and young people and to the Lenzie Flower Club to support them at the Chelsea Flower Show. Donations have also been made to groups such as Lenzie Scouts, Kirkintilloch Olympians, Kirkintilloch Players and Kirkintilloch Brass Band – groups which have provided assistance at our regular events.
Over the 2008-2009 year we have investigated issues such as flooding over the Auchinloch-Lenzie path beside the Gadloch and monitored the path network around the Kirkintilloch Link Road works and elsewhere. An investigation is going on into the clock at Queen’s Buildings with a view to restoring it to working order if possible. We have worked with First ScotRail to add some flowers to the environment of Lenzie Station. Representatives from the Kirkintilloch Link Road project and the Healthy Habits team have made presentations at meetings to update on progress.
