Lenzie achieves Fairtrade Town status

Towns looking for Fairtrade status have to compile an extensive dossier of information on local businesses and the Fairtrade products they sell.  The Fairtrade assessors were full of praise for what has been achieved in Lenzie in such a short space of time, given the fact that we only announced our intention to apply for Fairtrade Town status just over a year ago.

However, they were quick to point out that this is just the beginning of Lenzie’s Fairtrade journey and they made numerous suggestions as to how we could further embed Fairtrade activity into our community in future.

The Lenzie Fair Trade Group is planning a celebration of our new status on Thursday 3  October 2013.   The event  – Savour the Flavour – will feature Fair Trade cuisine with an African twist.  There will be cookery demos, tastings, quiz and recipe cards and information and product stands, providing inspiration and ideas for all those who come along.  Watch this space for further details.
