A Hotel for Lenzie

garn1The latest Planning proposal for the piece of ground alongside Woodilee Road at the foot of Garngaber Avenue is for a 28-bedroom hotel. You may remember that the previous proposal was for 8/9 houses and this was turned down on appeal to the Reporter, mostly on the grounds of possible damage to the health of protected trees.
A complicating factor was that the developer had jumped the gun somewhat and cut down a large number of not-protected trees which you can see on the right of the adjacent picture. Because these trees were removed without obtaining a licence, the Forestry Commission has imposed a requirement on the developer that these trees be replaced, albeit not in the same positions as original.
If you have views on this Proposal, you may be interested in the objections which Lenzie Community Council have now submitted with respect to this application.  Click on Hotel Application TP_ED_17_0885
