dog walk and buggyWhat are your favourite paths in and around Lenzie?

Lenzie Community Council, U3A and Strathkelvin Ramblers have combined forces to ask you – what are your favourite walking, cycling or horse riding routes around Lenzie?

This information will help us to prioritise routes for development and possibly produce a guide to find new places to explore locally.  Particularly, we are keen to get news on paths that are suitable for wheelchair users, buggy pushers, cyclists and horse riders.  We are thinking especially of paths where you don’t need to get in a car first but can step out of your back door and set off.

Please fill in the questionnaire form and if you have several ‘favourites’, feel free to fill in more than one form.  Then send it as an attachment to tom.gray@myphone.coop.

Why Development Trusts?

LenzieprimJDcropDevelopment Trusts are springing up all over Scotland – locally in Milngavie and Auchinloch.  They do all sorts of things – build, sell and rent out HOUSING, Create COMMUNITY CENTRES, Manage WIND FARMS and run COMMUNITY TRANSPORT schemes.  The potential for Community Development Trusts in Lenzie was highlighted at the meeting in August related to the aspirations for the Lenzie Primary site and the need to develop retirement housing in Lenzie.

Come and hear Catherine Dougan from the Development Trusts Association Scotland, who will describe how to set up, fund and maintain Trusts for the benefit of the community.

Monday 24th October at 7:30 pm in Lenzie Union Church New Hall.

bus

In recent discussions with First Bus, we have learned that, under the new timetable which comes into force on 23rd October 2016, there will be an hourly X87 service from Waterside through Lenzie to Glasgow.  This gives two buses every hour on a Sunday.

Here is the full 1stbustimetable and a 1stbusmap of the full routes which also shows the locations of bus stops.  On other days bus times are unchanged.

There is also a McGill’s 72 bus service which comes from Kirkintilloch via Initiative Road and Garngaber Avenue to Lenzie Station – see Busroutes and mcgills72.
