Local Planning is based on a Local Development Plan (LDP) which guides the future use of land, sets out proposals for development and provides the framework for dealing with planning applications. Local Plan 2 has just been adopted by the Council and it is now about to begin the preparation of a new Local Development Plan for the area, which will replace Local Plan 2. It is expected that the LDP will be adopted in 2016 and will be updated every 5 years thereafter.
The first step, in the production of the LDP is to publish a Main Issues Report (MIR), the purpose of which will be to identify the key changes which have taken place since the Local Plan 2 was prepared, whilst gaining an understanding of the key planning issues and development priorities that need to be addressed.
An interactive workshop will be held for anyone who is interested in getting involved in the process.
